TED Talk Tuesday: Can We Eat To Starve Cancer?

Today’s TED Talk may be a little more academic than most, but I found it to be fascinating. ¬†It’s no secret that diet is a contributor to cancer prevalence and healing (among many other things), but the science in Mr. Li’s presentation makes a convincing argument that we should really be examining the power in what we are eating! TED Talk Tuesday: 100 Days of Rejection

Welp, so much for a new blog series- post twice and then miss two weeks? Clearly I’m doing well. Sickness and travel got the best of me for a bit, but TTT is back with a quirky and inspiring video that might encourage you to step out of your comfort zone! ¬†Jia Jiang makes the best of a difficult situation and learns some surprising lessons along the way. ¬†A heartwarming and intriguing 12 minutes!

TED Talk Tuesday: “The Way We Think About Charity Is Dead Wrong”

Today’s TED Talk is another one of my favorites. ¬†I first saw it after a very intense conversation among friends on vacation over the merits of certain nonprofits based on what they pay their employees. ¬†There were heated voices on both sides, many of us either previously or currently being employed by nonprofits, and the conversation ended abruptly without resolution.

Dan Pallotta’s words in this talk are very important for us all to hear. Nonprofit work is a very complicated field these days, and yes- I think there are many people who take advantage of the generosity of others. But there are many very talented individuals with passions and experience who are getting paid a fraction of the salary they COULD be getting because they choose to work in the nonprofit sector. But hey, I’m stealing Pallotta’s show. If you routinely give away ANY of your money, you need to take 18 minutes of your time and watch this…

TED Talk Tuesday: “How I Fell In Love With A Fish”

I’ve developed a new pre-bedtime routine over the past week that had given me a great idea for the blog! Every night, I pick a TED talk and do all of pregnancy exercises and stretches while I watch, finishing up by slathering the ever-swelling belly with vitamin E oil and shea butter.

If you’ve never heard of TED, get familiar. ¬†The organization holds events and brings in expert, entertaining speakers on a wide variety of different subjects and has them give short yet informative talks to the audiences, while taping them for all the world to enjoy! ¬†Every talk I watch, I learn, grow, and question. I want to share these talks with you in my new series called TED Talk Tuesday!

This talk is one of my all-time favorites. ¬†Not only does it talk about the downfalls of the fishing industry, but it captures your attention as it details a revolutionary alternative. ¬†Dan Barber is a captivating and vivacious speaker, and I want to watch every talk he gives! But for now, enjoy this one…
